I’m not very religious, but I do view Jesus as the ultimate literary role model: chillin’ with the marginal (prostitutes, homeless, lepers), forgiving awful people, living simply without striving for possessions and wealth….
But sadly I often get the feeling that a portion of those who actually believe in Jesus, have absolutely no desire to be anything like Jesus. If he were to exist, they would probably try to change him into something else - something prettier and cleaner and censored - with stylists and publicists and advisors the like. Jesus would be all over the the tabloids, yo.
